Service Writer – Heavy‑Duty Truck Repair (Temp‑to‑Hire)
Pay: $18 to $25 per hour based on experience

About the Role
We are hiring a Service Writer for a busy heavy‑duty truck repair shop. This role is ideal for someone who understands diesel trucks, communicates well with customers, and can keep a fast‑paced shop running smoothly.
This position combines front‑counter service writing with light hands‑on shop support when needed. It’s a key role that connects customers, technicians, and workflow — and offers long‑term potential for the right person.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Write up repair orders and communicate clearly with customers
- Answer phones and schedule service appointments
- Provide repair estimates and recommend necessary services
- Coordinate jobs between customers and diesel technicians
- Assist in the shop as needed with hands‑on work
- Perform light to moderate diagnostics, including air leaks
- Run computer‑based diagnostic systems
- Assist with work on differentials, U‑joints, drivetrain repairs, PMs, and truck/trailer repairs
- Maintain accurate documentation and service records
What We’re Looking For
- 2–3+ years of experience with heavy‑duty diesel trucks and trailers
- Strong working knowledge of Class 8 trucks
- Comfortable using computers and diagnostic software
- Solid typing and data entry skills
- Strong phone presence and customer service skills
- Sales‑minded — able to explain, recommend, and close repair work
- Ability to think quickly and stay accurate in a fast‑paced shop environment
- Dependable, organized, and ready to take ownership of the role
