Service Writer – Heavy‑Duty Truck Repair (Temp‑to‑Hire)

About the Role

We are hiring a Service Writer for a busy heavy‑duty truck repair shop. This role is ideal for someone who understands diesel trucks, communicates well with customers, and can keep a fast‑paced shop running smoothly.

This position combines front‑counter service writing with light hands‑on shop support when needed. It’s a key role that connects customers, technicians, and workflow — and offers long‑term potential for the right person.

What You’ll Be Doing

Write up repair orders and communicate clearly with customers
Answer phones and schedule service appointments
Provide repair estimates and recommend necessary services
Coordinate jobs between customers and diesel technicians
Assist in the shop as needed with hands‑on work
Perform light to moderate diagnostics, including air leaks
Run computer‑based diagnostic systems
Assist with work on differentials, U‑joints, drivetrain repairs, PMs, and truck/trailer repairs
Maintain accurate documentation and service records

What We’re Looking For

2–3+ years of experience with heavy‑duty diesel trucks and trailers
Strong working knowledge of Class 8 trucks
Comfortable using computers and diagnostic software
Solid typing and data entry skills
Strong phone presence and customer service skills
Sales‑minded — able to explain, recommend, and close repair work
Ability to think quickly and stay accurate in a fast‑paced shop environment
Dependable, organized, and ready to take ownership of the role
