The Building Automation Systems Technician provides independent field hardware and software support on building automation systems, including HVAC control systems, security systems, and life‐safety systems. Responsibilities include system installations, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and 24‐hour customer service availability.

Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance checks on electronic systems
- Provide hardware support on controllers, devices, and pneumatic systems
- Deliver on‐site and front‐end software assistance to customers
- Participate in 24‐hour on‐call service rotation
- Install system additions and turnkey systems
- Complete all required documentation and paperwork
- Train and mentor junior service technicians
- Assist with or independently perform system checkout and start‐up
- Communicate with equipment representatives to resolve hardware issues
Qualifications
- Must be an Electrician
- 5+ years of experience with building automation systems or related field
- Ability to understand HVAC system design and intent
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, schematics, and ladder diagrams
- Working knowledge of building automation systems software
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‐solving skills
- Proven leadership skills and ability to manage people
- Ability to organize and manage multiple jobs and tasks with attention to detail
- Knowledge of electrical trade practices and codes related to automation systems
- Ability to collaborate with other construction trades
- Confident, decisive, and self‐motivated with strong independent decision‐making skills
- Above‐average math and logic skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Flexibility to work a changing schedule to meet customer demands
Physical Requirements
- 40+ hours/week, 8–10 hour shifts; overtime as needed
- Standing/climbing: 4–6 hours/day
- Kneeling, lifting, reaching, bending: 4–5 hours/day
- Twisting/walking: 2–3 hours/day
- Squatting/sitting: 1–2 hours/day
- Lifting: continuous 10–35 lbs.; frequent 35–50 lbs.; occasional 50–75 lbs.
- Carrying: average 60 lbs. for 40 feet
- Frequent use of hands (grasping, pushing/pulling, fine motor coordination)
- Frequent use of feet (equipment operation, climbing)
- Adequate vision for blueprint reading and wire identification
- Balance for continuous climbing of ladders, scaffolds, and lifts
- Work in temperature extremes (0°F–100°F), indoors and outdoors
- Exposure to dust, gases, fumes, odors, and confined spaces
- Potential hazards: mechanical, electrical, chemical, explosive
- Required PPE: hard hat, safety glasses, protective‐toe boots, gloves; additional gear as needed (fall protection, respirator, hearing protection, arc flash gear, insulated gloves/sleeves)
