POSITION TITLE: Entry-Level Purchasing Specialist & Shipper/Receiver

POSITION SUMMARY:

We are looking for a motivated, reliable, and detail-oriented Entry-Level Purchasing Specialist & Shipper/Receiver to join our team. This hybrid role combines purchasing support with hands-on shipping and receiving responsibilities. You will help procure inventory and non-inventory items, expedite orders, and manage the full cycle of inbound receiving and outbound shipping for Plant 1.
This is an excellent entry-level opportunity in a manufacturing environment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Purchasing Support
- Purchase and expedite inventory and non-inventory items as required by the MRP report and individual purchase requisitions
- Obtain accurate pricing and delivery information from vendors, issue purchase orders, and maintain a vendor confirmation log
- Perform regular follow-up with vendors to ensure on-time delivery of parts for production
- Review and interpret the Fusion Purchase Order Log
- Assist with investigating and correcting discrepancies between purchase orders and invoices (as requested by Accounts Payable)
- Provide administrative support to the Buyer
- Maintain office copier and supply inventory
Shipping & Receiving
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming deliveries against purchase orders and packing lists; note discrepancies and report to supervision
- Stage received materials and notify appropriate team members
- Count, verify, and prepare outgoing shipments; package items securely
- Prepare shipping documentation, bills of lading, hazardous material forms, and labels as required
- Maintain stock of packing materials and coordinate with carriers for pickups and deliveries
- Make local deliveries and pickups using company vehicles (as needed)
- Use forklifts and other material-handling equipment safely to move inventory
- Keep accurate records of all shipments and receipts
General
- Provide back-up support across Purchasing, Shipping & Receiving
- Adhere to Fusion's Quality Policy, ISO 9001 standards, and established procedures: actively seeking opportunities for continuous process improvement.
- Adhere to all safety rules, regulations, and OSHA guidelines
- Perform additional duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Basic math skills (including measurements)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and operate material-handling equipment safely
- Reliable, team-oriented, and eager to learn
- Good verbal and written communication skills
Preferred
- 0–2 years of experience in purchasing, warehouse, shipping/receiving, manufacturing, or customer service (recent graduates and career changers encouraged)
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (training provided)
- Forklift experience or certification (or willingness to obtain)
