The Maintenance Technician
Duties and responsibilities
1. Start machines and observe mechanical operation to determine efficiency and to detect problems.
2. Read work orders and specifications to determine machines and equipment requiring repair or maintenance.
3. Inspect or test damaged machine marks and mark defective areas or advise supervisors of repair needs.
4. Reassemble machines aft the completion of repair or maintenance work
5. Dismantle machines and remove parts for repair, using hand tools, chain falls, jacks, cranes or hoists.
6. Perform routine electrical maintenance and repair.
7. Determining causes of operating errors to troubleshoot equipment failures.
8. Responsible for building maintenance to include, grounds, roof repair and debris removal.
9. All other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
• Associates Degree in Industrial Maintenance field; 3+ years’ experience considered in lieu of degree
• Basic Computer Skills
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance
• Knowledge of arithmetic and its applications
• Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and electrical technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
• Attention to detail and good communication skills.
Preferred
• Prior working experience in a manufacturing environment.
Working conditions
This job operates primarily in a plant environment but also includes work in the office and warehousing areas.
Physical requirements
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, bend, stoop, kneel and twist and lift up to 100 pounds. The employee is frequently required to stand for long periods of time and use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Job is in a location in a plant where the temperature can be hot or cold depending on the weather.
