Responsibilities

• Operate ferryboats safely and efficiently, adhering to all maritime regulations.
• Conduct pre-departure inspections of the vessel and equipment to ensure safety standards are met.
• Communicate effectively with crew members and passengers, providing clear instructions and information.
• Monitor weather and water conditions to make informed decisions regarding ferry operations.
• Maintain accurate logs of vessel operations, including passenger counts and any incidents.
• Assist in training and mentoring crew members on safety procedures and operational protocols.
• Respond to emergencies and implement safety protocols as needed.
• Collaborate with management to improve operational efficiency and passenger experience.
• Operating 240 X 50 ft double-ended ferry with capacity of 50 vehicles and 500 passengers. Vessel is powered by four diesel driven Z-drive thrusers, allowing head on docking in cross tide conditions.

Qualifications

• Valid U.S. Coast Guard Captain's License (Master or Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels).
• Proven experience operating ferryboats or similar vessels.
• Strong knowledge of maritime navigation, safety regulations, and emergency procedures.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects as required.
