Responsibilities

Operate ferryboats safely and efficiently, adhering to all maritime regulations.
Conduct pre-departure inspections of the vessel and equipment to ensure safety standards are met.
Communicate effectively with crew members and passengers, providing clear instructions and information.
Monitor weather and water conditions to make informed decisions regarding ferry operations.
Maintain accurate logs of vessel operations, including passenger counts and any incidents.
Assist in training and mentoring crew members on safety procedures and operational protocols.
Respond to emergencies and implement safety protocols as needed.
Collaborate with management to improve operational efficiency and passenger experience.
Operating 240 X 50 ft double-ended ferry with capacity of 50 vehicles and 500 passengers. Vessel is powered by four diesel driven Z-drive thrusers, allowing head on docking in cross tide conditions.

Qualifications

Valid U.S. Coast Guard Captain's License (Master or Operator of Uninspected Passenger Vessels).
Proven experience operating ferryboats or similar vessels.
Strong knowledge of maritime navigation, safety regulations, and emergency procedures.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
Physical stamina and the ability to lift heavy objects as required.
