We’re currently seeking a Yard Manager to join our growing team of diverse manufacturing professionals in Chicago Heights, Illinois. This position will support our first shift, which operates Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 3:30pm.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Plans, organizes, and directly participates in the operations of the Chicago Heights site and optimizes day-to-day operation in accordance with company requirements
Ensures safe site operations at all times, including developing and enforcing procedures for each area and documenting effective training programs for all employees
Receives and ships rail and rail accessories to designated sites
Communicates effectively with Engineering and Sales colleagues to ensure proper coordination
Builds and maintains a trusting relationship with employees, managing the activities of Laborers, Equipment Operators, and Material Handlers to meet production and warehousing goals
Oversees the operation of heavy equipment
Plans preventive maintenance for heavy equipment and machinery and schedules routine maintenance
Manages maintenance budgets and expenses
Tracks and maintains a correct inventory of all products
Manages and enforces quality standards
Completes all necessary paperwork and submits in a timely manner
Maintains high awareness and knowledge level regarding all materials on hand
May occasionally travel by car or airplane to another domestic Atlantic Track location
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (GED, TASC, HiSet, etc.)
Minimum of 8 years of experience in a manufacturing environment
Minimum of 5 years of experience leading teams in a manufacturing or industrial environment
Demonstrated skills leading and motivating employees to work towards site goals
Ability to build effective, cooperative teams
Demonstrated experience recruiting, hiring, training, developing and motivating people
Ability to work on-site in Chicago Heights, Illinois
Warehousing experience: shipping and receiving steel and/or other heavy products and the equipment necessary to accomplish the tasks
Experience operating loaders or other material handling equipment
Ability to travel occasionally (up to 10% of the time) to support corporate training and/or strategic initiatives
Preferred Qualifications:
Machining and/or welding skills
Planning in an ERP system
Experience six sigma, lean manufacturing
Experience producing products with steel, including machining and welding steel
