Description:
The Engineering Supervisor leads the Westgate engineering team to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to quality standards while providing technical guidance and mentorship. They manage daily operations, including maintenance requests, inventory management, resource allocation, and safety compliance, often acting as a bridge between technical staff and senior management.
Responsibilities:
- Lead a team of engineers and ensure their work is aligned with departmental and organizational goals.
- Manage on call schedule for property incidents and emergencies
- Act as point of contact for all facilities related issues
- Schedule and monitor, in coordination with the General Manager, all vendor work necessary to keep facilities in good working order (fountain maintenance, painting, cleaning, window washing, plumbing, lighting maintenance, etc.)
- Establish and maintain relationships with contractors and vendors, including sourcing new ones as directed by the General Manager
- Have knowledge of facility related contracts. Review contractor/vendor work in-progress and upon completion
- Perform or assist on manual labor tasks at times, escalate facility issues as necessary.
- Develop and implement engineering processes, policies, and procedures
- Maintain records: service records, manuals, as-builds, blueprints, HVAC program, checklists, daily operation logs, etc.
- Act as a Project Manager when required
- Hold weekly meetings with the engineering team for updates on ongoing projects
- Enforce safety regulations, maintain equipment, and ensure compliance with industry standards & OSHA
- Coordinate and collaborate with other departments including marketing, security and parking, vendors and clients to meet property goals
- Participate in documentation and annual review of engineering team staff
- Participate in verbal, written counseling when applicable including Corrective Actions and Termination
Experience and Education Required:
- 3 yrs+ Supervisory Experience.
- 5 yrs+ Facilities Management experience
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration is a plus
- College and/or trade school(s) and/or comparable field experiences
- Computer experience; Microsoft Office, email, submitting reports, attaching documentation/pictures, etc.
- Valid Arizona D.L.
Skills Required:
- Ability to quickly become a ‘subject matter expert’. This includes internet research, taking courses, getting instruction from vendors/etc. Always seeking solutions and pursuing answers conducive with the YAM culture.
- Strong understanding of basic construction, plumbing and electrical principles.
- Understanding and experience with project management including coordination of vendors and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task and if necessary, triage tasks. Also handle multiple projects underway at the same time.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to convey verbal/phone/email communication in a clear/concise professional manner at all times.
- Must be able to function at a high-level re: interpersonal activities, exercising judgment, personal responsibility, planning, resourceful problem-solving, and processing of information.
- It is essential that this individual is a motivated self-starter, has the ability to manage several projects simultaneously, and can do so with little or no supervision. This includes timely 'after-hours' response to urgent facility concerns. Individual will be expected to answer their company issued cell phone when off-duty.
Working Conditions:
This position will work in an office environment as well as traveling and working in the field. Must be able to sit and stand for up to four hours at a time. This position requires an individual to have physical stamina and agility sufficient to lift, push, pull, stand, walk, climb up and down ladders/stairs, and engage in similar physical activities as necessary to perform the position. Must be able to operate company vehicles and at times haul an enclosed or open trailer. Hours may range from 5am to 7pm or as needed.
