Scope and Role:
As a Wire EDM Set-Up & Operations Specialist at KMM Group, you play a critical role in delivering precision-machined components that meet or exceed quality standards and customer expectations. You’ll set up, operate, and maintain Wire EDM equipment toproduce complex parts, drive continuous improvement, and support the company’sobjective of lights-out manufacturing. Your expertise will help ensure operationalexcellence, equipment reliability, and process innovation.
Education/Experience Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of working experience is required for the job requirements in this job description.
- Vocational education or apprenticeship preferred. High School Diploma Minimum.
- Must exhibit strong understanding of NC Code Mitsubishi EDM or similar machine controls.
- Understanding of 4 Axis programs. Rotary EDM Experience a (+)
- Preferred Equipment Experience: Mitsubishi Wire EDM

Primary Tactical Responsibilities
- Studies job folders including routers, setup sheets, setup photos, blueprints to understand the sequence of operations, and finished dimensions of the work piece.
- Set up and operate Mitsubishi or Equivalent Wire EDM’s.
- Troubleshoots process issues and effects change to overcome obstacles or other issues of the job, including NC Code modification to improve job performance.
- Complies with all documentation requirements, including job folders, inspection sheets, Setup Sheets, and others as defined.
- Removes finish marks as required. May fit or assemble parts together, such as punches into punch holders after Wire EDM.
- Collaborate with peers, supervisors, and quality teams to meet daily production goals.
- Performs preventive and other maintenance duties as required by machinery manuals and KMM schedules in order to keep machinery running at peak performance.
- Follows KMM procedures for quality & job requirements, including, but not limited to:
o First Article/Piece Inspections (FPY-First Pass Yields = 100%)
o In Process Inspections
o Set Up Sheets
o Daily time reporting (Labor, Machine Time and Quantity and Job Pack production reporting
o Job folder step sign off’s.
Primary Strategic Responsibilities
- Plan and execute lights out (Un-attended) manufacturing operations.
- Recommend process improvements for setup & cycle time, quality, and machine utilization.
- Assist in designing and laying out fixtures for efficient EDM operations.
- Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
- Support the training of new team members as needed.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
- Use of computer and manual dexterity for precision setup and inspection.
- Occasionally lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs.
