Job Summary

The Winding Technician II is an intermediate support role responsible for independently performing electrical winding operations for components such as coils, transformers, motors, or inductors in accordance with established specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. This role applies working knowledge of winding techniques, materials, equipment, and documentation to support reliable production and product performance.

Role Overview
The Winding Technician II performs hands‑on electrical winding and assembly tasks using manual, semi‑automatic, or automated winding equipment depending on the environment. The role emphasizes independent execution of standard winding operations, attention to detail, and consistent application of quality and safety procedures.
This position typically reports to a Production Supervisor, Manufacturing Supervisor, or Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities
Winding & Assembly Operations

Independently perform electrical winding operations for coils, transformers, motors, or related components
Wind conductors according to specifications for turns, layering, tension, insulation, and terminations
Assemble wound components into subassemblies or finished units as required

Equipment Setup & Operation

Set up and operate winding machines, fixtures, and tools
Select appropriate wire, insulation, and materials per work instructions
Monitor equipment operation and adjust within defined parameters

Blueprint & Instruction Interpretation

Read and follow work instructions, winding diagrams, and basic electrical drawings
Verify winding specifications such as gauge, turns, direction, and connection points
Clarify routine requirements with supervisors or leads as needed

Quality & Inspection

Inspect wound components for accuracy, appearance, and workmanship
Perform basic tests or checks (e.g., resistance, continuity) as required
Identify and report defects, damage, or non‑conforming materials

Production & Workflow Support

Meet assigned production targets and schedules
Support line balancing, job rotation, or process changes as directed
Communicate issues, delays, or material shortages promptly

Safety & Compliance

Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and ESD controls as applicable
Apply safe‑work practices related to machinery, sharp conductors, and electrical components
Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas

Documentation & Recordkeeping

Complete production records, checklists, or traceability documentation accurately
Follow controlled documentation and change‑management requirements
Support audits or quality reviews as needed

Continuous Improvement & Knowledge Sharing

Identify opportunities to improve winding efficiency or quality
Participate in continuous improvement or problem‑solving activities
Provide informal guidance to Winding Technician I roles


Qualifications
Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent required
Technical or vocational training in manufacturing, electronics, or electrical assembly preferred
Typically 2–4 years of experience in winding, electrical assembly, or manufacturing environments

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Working knowledge of electrical winding processes and materials
Ability to independently perform standard winding operations
Ability to follow diagrams, work instructions, and specifications
Strong attention to detail and manual dexterity
Basic understanding of electrical components and measurements
Strong safety awareness
Ability to work effectively in a production team environment
