Job Overview:

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for interpreting ASME and similar industry codes.
  • Responsible for following established quality procedures and processes.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections on purchased parts, subassemblies or finished company products (primarily, but not limited to pressure vessels and piping).
  • Reject and disposition subassemblies or finished products as required.
  • Determine acceptability of welds by visual inspection as well as through the review of subcontracted NDE results
  • Review RT film for compliance to code of construction.
  • May review ASME code calculations and drawings for compliance to code
  • Work with shop personnel for accuracy and completion of shop documentation; create and maintain ASME code documentation and inspection records.
  • Prepare, maintain, and approve required quality documentation.
  • Work with vendors to ensure quality of purchased parts for company use
  • May provide Quality interface with customers and third party inspectors
  • Coordinate activities of NDE and other 3rd party vendors activities on-site
  • May direct workers engaged in inspection and testing activities.
  • May provide inspections and/or supervision at vendor/subcontractor locations.
  • May be responsible for the activities of Quality Inspectors and other Quality personnel.

Required Skills or Tools:

  • Current CWI REQUIRED 
  • Level II NDE qualifications desired
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in welding quality control
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical documents.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand basic English, Bilingual (Spanish) a plus
  • Computer literate in basic computer applications (email, MS applications, etc.)
  • Must have working knowledge of various industry codes and local regulations, ASME, AWS, NACE, API, etc.
  • Must be familiar with ASME requirements as they apply to pressure vessels and process piping
