Description

Position Summary:

The Welding Supervisor oversees the work being carried out and makes sure production targets are met. Duties include staff management, overseeing staff welfare, and managing the Welding department’s Health and Safety protocol. Day to day tasks include Planning work schedules and maintaining an efficient workflow. They are highly motivated and have a desire to work in a fast paced, quality centered environment. This role is vital to ensuring our customers’ needs are consistently met, promoting our company’s continued strong national growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive a culture for clean, well-organized and efficient work environment ensuring 5s and lean principles are sustained throughout department
  • Ensure employees comply with Anchor Fabrication Safety Policies (PPE, Safe Behavior, Proper use of equipment)
  • Own department Quality by implementing process improvement initiatives and seeking out root cause and corrective actions
  • Maintain a quality driven environment that is compliant with all company certifications and specifications
  • Work closely with Weld R&D Manager to ensure WQTR and WPS records are current
  • Have an action-oriented approach, with a sense of urgency and responsiveness in solving issues.
  • Help Maintenance Dept. keep equipment in good working order and current with calibrations
  • Work with Finishing Operations Manager to stay within monthly Plant Expense and Labor budgets
  • Drive schedule adherence, reduce past due hours and stagnant jobs
  • Review program work to meet daily run rates, working with planning adjust if not on track
  • Work with the Material department to ensure full kit hours are maintained
  • Review time entries and manage payroll through HR payroll service
  • Able to work in a team environment respecting the thoughts and ideas of others
  • Work with the department leads to ensure all expectations for monthly revenue, quality, labor, and plant expense and are communicated and on track
  • Work with HR and the Finishing Operations Manager to resolve any employee issues or disciplinary concerns such as attendance, productivity, termination and suspension
  • Manage high email traffic internally and externally.
  • Other duties assigned.

Qualifications


Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma of GED equivalent.
  • 5+ years relevant welding experience; experience in the metal industry preferred.
  • 5+ years relevant weld quality experience.
  • 5+ years' experience managing at least 25 employees.
  • Must be able to read and understand detailed prints.
  • Exhibit strong knowledge of weld characteristics and inspection of welds.
  • Ability to set and weld with Miller welding equipment from gauge material thicknesses to heavy plate.
  • Extensive manufacturing knowledge such as cycle times, process flow, lean manufacturing.
  • Extensive knowledge of health and safety protocols required in a manufacturing environment.
  • Basic knowledge of manufacturing related tools, raw materials and machinery.
  • Ability to analyze jobs, due dates, costs, processes and other inputs and make reasonable decisions to effectively plan for daily scheduling.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly in a variety of settings.
  • Experience with completing initiatives as assigned by management.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and jobs simultaneously, capable of prioritizing, identifying problems, and meeting established goals.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and various software packages such as Microsoft Office (Outlook, Work, PowerPoint, Excel) and ERP software.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience with Epicor’s Vantage.

This position is carried out in a fabrication shop environment and as such has the following physical work requirements:

  • Must be able to lift up to 100lbs.
  • Position requires the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Position may require bending, kneeling, and stooping.
  • Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, and chemicals.
