Overview:
The Welding Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of MIG and TIG welders, ensuring production efficiency, maintaining quality standards, and optimizing processes to meet production goals.
This is a great opportunity for a skilled, knowledgeable, and experienced person who would like to supervise a welding department at an established metal manufacturer in North NJ.
Candidate must be STRONG in welding sheet metal (mild steel, stainless, alum), from thin gauge to half-inch and be fluent in reading welding drawings.
Responsibilities
- Observe work to include inspection of welds, materials, equipment, and monitor welding settings and other indicators to ensure that operators conform to drawings and production standards.
- Creative approach to problem solving. Able to conceive fixtures, jigs, etc. to solve welding related issues efficiently and increase production efficiency.
- Familiarity with robotic welding (Motoman/Yasakawa) is a plus but we will train the right candidate.
- Collaborate with different departments to guarantee accessibility of resources, materials, and equipment essential for the production process.
- Communicate with Production Manager regarding issues associated with the department personnel as well as machines, processes, and fabrication.
Requirements
-Experience supervising 4+ welders in a metal manufacturing environment.
- Should be able to sufficiently speak, read, and write English with a legible penmanship. Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
- Must be energetic and a self-starter, able to promote and implement change, have good computer literacy (email, Microsoft Office), strong organizational skills, and ability to promote a continuous improvement atmosphere. Basic knowledge of Solidworks to retrieve dimensions and develop fixturing is a plus!
- Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, have good team building skills, excellent people skills, ability to handle multiple tasks, and understand all aspects of the department (MIG, TIG, Robots, grinding, etc.)
- Ability to read and understand blueprints and weld symbols and have a working knowledge of sheet metal gauges and alloys.
- Deep understanding of various welding techniques and equipment.
