Job Overview:

  • Supervise and coordinate night shift welding and fabrication operations.

  • Lead and support welders, fitters, and fabrication personnel to ensure safe and efficient production.

  • Oversee box header fabrication and welding processes, ensuring proper fit-up, joint preparation, and weld execution.

  • Ensure work is performed in accordance with ASME code requirements, approved WPSs, and project specifications.

  • Review drawings, weld maps, travelers, and fabrication documentation to ensure correct execution of work.

  • Monitor productivity and ensure production schedules and deadlines are met.

  • Work closely with Quality Control personnel to ensure all welding and fabrication meets inspection requirements.

  • Address and resolve fabrication issues, weld defects, and production challenges in a timely manner.

  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of shop equipment and tools.

  • Enforce company safety policies and maintain a safe working environment.

  • Train and mentor welders and fabrication personnel to improve skill levels and maintain quality standards.

  • Communicate shift updates, production progress, and issues to day shift supervisors and management.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical training in welding or fabrication preferred.

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in welding or fabrication in a heavy manufacturing environment.

  • Hands-on experience with box header welding and fabrication.

  • Strong working knowledge of ASME codes (such as Section VIII and Section IX).

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication specifications.

  • Leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage production under tight schedules.

  • Good communication and team leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Welding certifications or formal welding training.

  • Experience with pressure vessels, heat exchangers, or code fabrication.

  • Familiarity with weld procedures (WPS), procedure qualification records (PQR), and welder qualifications.

  • Experience working alongside quality inspectors, Authorized Inspectors (AI), or third-party inspectors.

  • Knowledge of ASME quality systems and documentation.
