Job Overview:

Summary: TWB Monroe is seeking a Welding Engineering Intern this fall session! Fall internships are expected to take place between September 15 and December 19, 2025.

TWB Company is North America’s market leader for tailor welded products with locations in Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Ontario and Mexico. Formed in 1992, TWB is a joint venture of Worthington Steel and BAO Steel. The company developed the tailor welded blank market in North America and is the leading manufacturer of tailor welded products supporting JIT production and services to the automotive industry. The company’s technologies are helping automotive companies produce stronger, lighter vehicles.

Selected interns are assigned based on their field of study and interests within our company. These interns gain hands-on experience by completing challenging projects that apply their field of study to real world applications in manufacturing. Mentors and managers provide tools and guidance to prepare interns for success in the workplace and the classroom. We aim to teach and model soft skills such as professionalism, communication, resourcefulness, collaboration, and respect in addition to offering opportunities to gain experience and practice within their skillset. Excellent performance as an intern may be rewarded with opportunities for internship continuation or potential full time hire upon graduation.

Project(s): Projects are planned based on anticipated departmental needs but may be altered based on business needs or selected intern’s skills or interests. 

Validating whether a software utilizing AI provides the team with the necessary data to increase issue detection

Skills developed: Practical experience in low-code/no-code automation, service delivery optimization, enterprise IT tool configuration, detailed observation, communication, strategic planning, presenting, documenting, & problem resolution

Work Environment: Intern should be prepared to spend time working on the plant floor in addition to the office environment. Appropriate safety training and PPE will be provided.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Major in Welding Engineering
  • Completion of Sophomore Year by Fall of 2025
  • Interest in Manufacturing and Laser Welding
  • Able to follow the TWB Company Philosophy: Treat others as you want to be treated.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, must be able to communicate effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization
  • Must exhibit strong leadership characteristics
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Computer proficient in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks is a plus
