This is not repetitive production welding. This role is for someone who takes pride in custom fabrication and wants to see projects built from start to finish. You’ll help create heavy-duty material handling equipment like industrial trailers, transfer cars, hoppers, lift tables, turntables, and other large fabricated products.
Required Skills:
- MIG welding
experience in a fabrication or structural environment
- Ability to
read and interpret blueprints, fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and measurements
- Proven ability to
lay out, fit, tack, and weld
structural components to spec
- Experience fabricating/assembling components such as
frames, platforms, supports, and hoppers
- Strong
measuring, layout, and basic shop math
skills
- Ability to produce
clean, structurally sound welds
(penetration, appearance, strength, accuracy)
- Comfortable using common fab tools:
tape measures, squares, levels, grinders, saws, clamps, etc.
- Ability to
set up welding equipment
and select correct settings for the application
- Dependable, safety-minded, and able to work independently while contributing to a small team
Nice to Have Skills:
- Flux-core welding
experience
- Structural welding
background
- Mechanical assembly and/or equipment installation experience
- Strong troubleshooting ability and comfort communicating fabrication issues to supervisors/engineering
**Preferred
Experience:**
- Prior hands-on experience in
metal fabrication
and welding (custom or large-component work preferred)
- Demonstrated experience fitting and assembling
large or custom-fabricated components
Other Requirements:
- Ability to pass a
hands-on weld test
- Reliable transportation and dependable attendance
- Physical ability to
stand, bend, kneel, crouch, and work in varied positions throughout the shift
- Ability to lift/move materials up to
50lbs
- Comfortable working around
heavy steel, sparks, heat, and typical fabrication-shop conditions
- Able to wear required
