RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all required safety checks on cranes, welding equipment, and tools at the start of each shift and continue inspections throughout the shift; document results per procedure. 
  • Set up and operate machinery and welding equipment in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including but not limited to: 
    • Seam welders (Sub Arc and K‑TIG)
    • TIG and MIG hand welding
    • Large and small plate rolls
    • Beveling machines, shears, brake presses
    • Hand tools used for cleaning and material preparation
  • Inspect all raw materials to ensure compliance with specifications and required documentation. 
  • Perform in‑process and final inspections of products to verify conformance to customer specifications and applicable codes; record all critical measurements. 
  • Develop and maintain proficiency in MIG and TIG welding to company quality standards. 
  • Cross‑train in the parts preparation department, including operation of Marvel saws and other metal‑forming equipment as needed. 
  • Accurately complete and maintain required production and quality documentation for all projects. 
  • Safely operate cranes, hoists, and forklifts; successfully complete all required equipment operation and safety training. 
  • Maintain housekeeping standards and perform other duties as assigned to support operations.

REQUIRED SKILLS, ABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to learn and perform MIG and TIG welding proficiently.
  • Above‑average mechanical aptitude and math skills, including fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to accurately read and use measuring equipment such as tape measures, calipers, and related tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work instructions.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Basic reading and writing skills required.
  • Ability to meet predefined deadlines while managing job‑related pressure and stress.

EQUIPMENT KNOWLEDGE:

  • Pneumatic tools provided by the company. 
  • Hand tools required to complete assigned job tasks.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Good manual dexterity and strong hand‑eye coordination. 
  • Close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) for an entire shift, including safety glasses, hearing protection, and safety footwear. 
  • Frequent light lifting (up to 15 pounds). 
  • Frequent moderate lifting (15–45 pounds).
