Description

Position Summary:

The Welder’s role is to weld parts safely, quickly and accurately, meeting or exceeding customer specs by reading blueprints, including weld symbols; ensuring correct machine settings, shielding gas, weld position, and filler material are used.

Primary Responsibilities:

Fit and weld parts according to customer specifications, meeting or exceeding customer specs, both structural and aesthetic.
Knowledge, understanding, and use of weld symbols
Knowledge, understanding, and use of blueprints
Ability to MIG / Fillet weld
Ability to 2G and/or 3G uphill weld
Ability to double V groove weld
Uses proper PPE and follows all safety procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

2 to 5 years of welding employment experience.
Accurately apply welding procedures and skills
Interpret medium to complex drawings
Apply Quality multi-pass welds.

Intermediate-Level (Level 2) - Skilled Welder

Skills: Proficient in multiple welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick, FCAW)
Processes: Can weld in multiple positions (flat, horizontal, vertical)
Task: Structural welding, pipe welding, blueprint reading, quality control.

Advanced-Level (Level 3) - Expert Welder

Skills: High Precision welding, complex joint configurations, metallurgy knowledge.
Processes All-position welding, exotic metals (aluminum, stainless steel, titanium).
Task: Supervising, training, inspection, and custom fabrication.

Physical weld testing on-site must be acceptable.

Environment/Physical Requirements with or without Accommodation:

This position is carried out in a fabrication shop environment and, as such, has the following physical work requirements:

Must be able to lift to 100lbs.
Must be able to position the welding apparatus in any position the work.
Position requires the ability to stand for prolonged periods.
Position may require bending, kneeling, and stooping.
Exposed to shop elements such as noise, dust, odors, and chemicals.
