Job Overview:

Role Summary/Purpose:

A Level I tack welder uses several short bursts of heat from equipment to create a temporary weld between two metal joints. It works through the same process as creating a full weld but is used only for temporary joints. Job responsibilities are not limited to tack welding.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Qualified as a tack welder
  • Demonstration of the ability to safely use grinders and hand tool
  • Tack welding of sub-assemblies 
  • Test products or subassemblies for functionality or quality
  • Troubleshoot problems with equipment, devices, or products
  • Build product subassemblies or final assemblies
  • Prepare and assemble materials
  • Set up and operate production equipment/tooling in accordance with current manufacturing practices and standard operating procedures
  • Maintain accurate inventory of job materials
  • Provide production, progress, or changeover reports to shift supervisors
  • Set up and verify the functionality of safety equipment
  • Start up and shut down processing equipment
  • Adhere to all applicable regulations, policies, and procedures for health, safety, and environmental compliance.
  • Clean production equipment or work areas

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Skills/Qualifications: Documentation of welding Skills, Teamwork, Coordination, Organization, Planning, Time Management, Reporting Skills, Inventory Control, Data Entry Skills, Dependability, Basic understanding of welding processes.
