Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Welder II to join our CMS Operations team within Platforms & Services at BAE Systems Inc. in Aiken, SC. As a Welder II, you will play a critical role in supporting our manufacturing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Load and unload parts onto weld tables and fixtures using hand tools, ratchets, or air tools to secure parts in place
- Inspect parts against quality specifications to ensure accuracy and quality
- Identify and troubleshoot problems, recommending or taking corrective action as needed
- Safely operate material handling equipment, such as hoists, pallet jacks, or forklifts, to move parts, materials, containers, and fixtures to and from storage areas
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, adhering to company safety protocols
- Provide training and guidance to colleagues as needed
- Perform other duties as required to support team objectives
Available Shifts: 2nd Shift - 3:15pm to 1:45am Mon-Thurs and Weekend Shift - 5am to 5:30pm Fri-Sun
Required Skills and Education
- High school diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 1 year of welding experience; or trade school graduate with a welding certificate
- Ability to successfully pass weld qualification in accordance with appropriate weld specifications
- Ability to apply shop math, read and interpret blueprints, and calculate dimensions
- Ability to understand work orders, machine controls and settings, fixtures and tool requirements, and make adjustments as needed
- Ability to hold and maneuver a weld torch, and operate foot and hand controls
- Ability to operate a scissors lift with 27-inch step-up and 15-foot working heights
- Ability to lift 30 pounds and apply 30 pounds of torque to ratchets
- Ability to operate hoist, pallet jacks, or forklift (forklift operation requires passing a certification test and ability to step up 14 inches onto the forklift)

Preferred Skills and Education
- Knowledge and ability to perform at different welding processes
- Understanding and ability to apply Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) to the job
- Knowledge of different types of welds and weld joints
- Familiarity with weld discontinuities and defects, and methods to alleviate them
