Job Description:

Are you hands-on, mechanically inclined, and interested in turning your passion for fabrication into a skilled trade? The BW Manufacturing Academy Welding Program offers an immersive, real-world path to earning a Technical Diploma in Welding, with paid education, on-the-job training, and a full-time position after graduation.

This custom 2-year training program is designed for welding students and future fabricators looking to build a long-term career in manufacturing. BW Papersystems will sponsor your education through Northcentral Technical College (NTC) while you gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside skilled professionals in our Phillips, WI facility.

Instruction time, travel, and tuition are paid—and all participants will be trained in key welding, fabrication, and safety skills essential for success in a production environment.

Program Highlights

  • 4-year total program (2 years of technical diploma + 2-year post-program work agreement)
  • Enroll in NTC’s Welding Technical Diploma program, extended over two years
  • Paid instruction, tuition, and travel time
  • Students work part-time while attending school and training on the job
  • Upon completion of their technical diploma, students must work full-time at BW Papersystems Phillips, WI, for 2 years
  • Must maintain a B average or above in all coursework
  • First Aid & CPR certification required in the first year

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • Interest in welding, metalwork, or manufacturing

  • Mechanically inclined and eager to learn through hands-on experience

  • Strong attendance, work ethic, and communication skills

  • Must be local to the area and available for part-time work during school
