Position Summary
The Welder/Fabricator is responsible for setting up welding equipment, fitting and welding metal components, reading blueprints, and producing high-quality weldments that meet company standards and specifications.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up and adjust welding equipment for a variety of parts and subassemblies.
- Perform MIG welding operations according to blueprint specifications and weld symbols.
- Prepare materials and surfaces for welding.
- Verify the accuracy and fit-up of pre-assembled components prior to welding.
- Move and position weldments manually and with overhead cranes.
- Secure workpieces in fixtures, jigs, or welding tables.
- Operate grinders, deburring equipment, and other fabrication tools.
- Inspect completed welds to ensure quality and compliance with specifications.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
- Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum 1 year of welding and/or fabrication experience.
- Knowledge of MIG welding processes and cutting tools.
- Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication specifications.
- Basic math and measurement skills.
- Experience using tape measures and other measuring devices.
- Ability to weld simple assemblies with minimal supervision.
- Ability to perform flat, vertical, and downhill welding.
- Experience operating grinders and deburring equipment.
- Ability to safely lift, move, and position fabricated metal parts.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends as production schedules require.
Preferred
- High school diploma or GED.
- Experience in a manufacturing or heavy equipment environment.
- Experience operating overhead cranes.
Physical Requirements
- Lift, move, and position metal components throughout the workday.
- Stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Wear required PPE, including steel-toed boots, welding helmet, gloves, and other safety equipment.
