POSITION TITLE: Welder / Fabricator /
POSITION SUMMARY:
The responsibilities of the Welder / Fabricator position include fitting and joining, fabricating, and repairing metal and other wieldable material by applying appropriate welding techniques in accordance with product specifications and production schedules. This position will also work cooperatively with other members of the remount team to provide fabrication skills and technical support.
Responsibilities:
- Perform welding duties using a wire welder.
- Weld steel components with welding equipment as specified by layouts, engineering drawings, work orders, or verbal instructions.
- Work includes set-up, laying out work using jigs/fixtures or hand layouts to fabricate parts and/or rework finished products.
- Work with fitters or fitters/welders to assist in the fabrication or welding of multi-component parts.
- Operate forklifts, hoists, hand power tools, slings, grinders, cutting torch, and other hand tools related to the jobs needs.
- Inspect and correct welds as necessary to meet product specifications.
- Read, understand, and follow job order specifications, engineering drawings, and/or work orders.
- Willingness to cross-train and perform the work of other job tasks in addition to the primary assigned position.
- Inspect equipment to maintain functional equipment if any equipment needs repairs notify supervisor/lead or maintenance department.
- Repair equipment according to instruction of Remount Shop Supervisor.
- Communicate frequently with Remount Shop Supervisor to discuss equipment ready to be service or equipment being serviced.
- Process requests of service supervisor in an accurate and timely manner.
- Diagnose equipment problems and communicate issues.
- Repair equipment according to diagnosis results maintaining a high level of quality.
- Requisition parts and document labor on work orders.
- Remain current on all software capabilities and utilize technological tools.
- Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to stand for a prolonged periods.
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position for extended period of time.
- Dexterity required to utilize power tools, and other tools required to do the job.
- Ability to learn technical material.
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 40 pounds between loading docks, storage, and for client distribution. Distances range up to 25 feet. Height ranges up to 5 feet.
- Occasionally ascends/descends a ladder or other equipment to manage, move, lift or replenish inventory.
- The person in this position frequently communicates with others who have inquiries about NESCO equipment. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Must be able to observe and identify equipment controls and functionality.
- Ability to perform responsibilities at the designated site for designated hours as assigned, excluding holidays and PTO.
- The person in this position frequently communicates with others who have operational inquiries.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
- Work in a safety awareness and team-oriented environment.
- Must be able to observe and interpret operational data.
Education and Experience:
- 1+ year(s) of experience with Mig/Tig welding in a manufacturing environment.
- Must be a certified welder.
- Comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
- Experience working in a results-oriented, team environment.
- Exceptional time management skills.
- 3+ years of experience with heavy machinery or other service technician capacity.
- Hydraulic experience is an asset.
- ANSI, Dielectric, Inspection certification a plus, but not required.
- Comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities.
- Experience working in a results-oriented, team environment.
- Ability to enter data into computer or tablet.
