An Express Employment Professionals client is seeking a skilled Welder to fabricate and weld metal components using MIG, air arc, and oxy-fuel welding equipment. This role supports the production of heavy steel products such as truck bodies, buckets, cable reels, and water tanks while meeting quality, safety, and productivity standards.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Perform horizontal and vertical welds using 1/16" and 3/32" wire per supervisor instructions
- Weld assembled metal parts and individual components according to specifications
- Use air arc to remove lifting tabs and excess material
- Remove slag using needle chippers and smooth surfaces using grinders
- Operate MIG welders, air arc equipment, and oxy-fuel torches for fabrication and repair
- Inspect welds for quality and compliance; repair defects by cutting or rewelding as required
- Transport parts, tools, equipment, and weld wire (up to 60 lbs) to workstations
- Operate hoists and overhead cranes while guiding suspended loads
- Move finished components to the next operation or designated storage area
- Perform welding tasks to supervisory and quality-approved standards
- Follow all safety policies and correct or report hazards immediately
- Adhere to tool checkout and accountability procedures
- Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
- Technical certificate (1 year) OR 6 months–1 year of related welding experience, or equivalent combination
- MIG welding experience and blueprint reading skills required
- Knowledge of welding symbols, fabrication processes, and steel properties
- Ability to pass in-house written and practical weld tests, including ESCO bend test
- Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, ratios, and percentages
- Ability to read, write, and speak simple work-related instructions

Hand Tools May Include:
- Welding gun, grinders, needle scalers, pry bars, drills, weld gauges, wire brushes
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
- ANSI-approved steel-toed boots (metatarsal guards recommended)
- Safety glasses with side shields
- Hard hat, hearing protection
- Welding hood, leathers, gloves, face shield, cutting goggles, respirator as needed
Physical Requirements
Frequent lifting and handling of tools (7–14 lbs)
Occasional lifting of weld wire reels up to 60 lbs
Team lifting of heavier materials as required
Ability to stand, bend, stoop, crawl, kneel, and work at heights up to 30 feet
Manual dexterity and visual acuity for detailed welding work
Variable temperatures depending on season and welding activity
Exposure to fumes, airborne particles, loud noise, and moving machinery
Work may be performed at elevated heights and around suspended loads
