Location: SMT, Inc. – Raleigh, NC
Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 3:00 PM – 1:00 AM
? Training: First 2–3 weeks on 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:00 PM)

Position Overview

As a Welder at SMT, you’ll be responsible for laying out, fitting,  and welding metal components to precise specifications. You’ll help  build sub-assemblies and final products that meet our high standards for  quality and durability.


Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret complex blueprints and welding diagrams
  • Set up and operate welding, grinding, and cutting equipment
  • Assemble parts and sub-assemblies to exact specifications
  • Inspect finished welds for quality and accuracy
  • Maintain production records and documentation
  • Keep a clean and safe work environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

Requirements


Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Minimum 3 years of MIG welding experience in a manufacturing setting

Skills & Abilities

  • Proficient in reading blueprints and performing detailed math calculations
  • Skilled with welding tools, calipers, micrometers, and grinders
  • Able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must pass respiratory medical evaluation, respirator training, and fit test prior to start

Work Environment

  • Exposure to noise, fumes, heat, and dust typical of a manufacturing setting
  • Use of PPE required (weld shield/helmet, etc.)

Supervision & Decision-Making

  • No direct supervisory responsibilities
  • Requires moderate independent judgment within company policies
