For over 75 years, Rice Lake Weighing Systems has been a successful, growth-oriented company known as a leader in the weighing industry and our community.  

Rice Lake Weighing Systems is seeking a Welder to join our dedicated Truck Scale Fabrication Department on first shift. Welders in this department build the toughest scales on earth; our SURVIVOR Truck Scales. Our welders perform MIG welding with flux core and solid wire to ensure high quality products while following safe work practices. 

Duties & Responsibilities 

Some of your duties may include: 

• Operating carbon air-arc, pencil grinders, disk grinders, cutoff wheel and other hand tools
• Layout and fit various parts and assemblies. 
• Welding in a variety of positions such as flat, vertical, horizonal and overhead 
• Effectively read manufacturing documents like blueprints and routings 
• Keep an organized, clean and safe work area in a fast-paced environment. 

You’ll also need to be able to:

• Frequently bend, crouch, and reach during shifts. 
• Regularly lift up to 50 pounds 
• Occasionally operate a forklift, overhead crane or other lift equipment  

What it’s like in the Truck Scale Department at Rice Lake Weighing Systems 

• Safety: Your safety is important to us, so we provide personal protective equipment, including welding jackets, gloves, welding hood lenses. Welding helmets are your responsibility. 
• Surroundings: You’ll be working in a manufacturing facility around moving equipment like forklifts, overhead cranes and other machines.
• Activity: Some activities may require climbing onto the module or working under a fixture. 
• Temperature: The temperatures in manufacturing vary depending on the season. 
• Noise level: It can get loud. We provide hearing protection for you. 
• Dress code: Relaxed, with a few rules to follow for safety. Composite or steel-toe boots that cover the ankles are required. RLWS reimburses 50% for safety shoes once per year.

Requirements

Qualified candidates will have a welding degree or two (2) or more years of welding in a manufacturing setting along with the ability to understand and adhere to all job requirements and safety guidelines.
