Do you have welding experience and enjoy building things with your hands?**
The Advance Group has partnered with a Taylor, MI facility in need of 1st shift welders to assist with installing trailer systems.
Responsibilities for the Welders:
- MIG welding on aluminum for approximately 10% of the day, the rest of the day will consist of installing and attaching retractable trailer systems
- Operate machines to cut and bend metal
- Measure, cut, assemble, repair, and install materials needed to complete tarping system for semi-trailers
- Operates various equipment including drills, scissor lift, grinders, buffers, pallet jacks, saws, and other machinery
- Performs measurements utilizing a ruler and adds or subtracts fractions
- Move materials from the ground to tables which will involve bending, kneeling, and crawling on the ground
- Utilizes hand tools to build various beams and rails and attach the completed racking system to the back of semi trailers
- Inspects products for quality
- Packages and labels materials
- Read and interpret instructions and written orders
- Assist welders in prepping materials
- Ability to learn some welding techniques, if interested
- Lifts materials weighing up to 75lbs
- Climb step ladders at 6-8ft in order to get on the flatbed and at times climb ladders located on top of the flatbed in order to reach the top of the bulkhead
- Clean the trailer and bulkhead, also rotate in cleaning the bathrooms
Compensation for the Welders:
- $19-22/hr based on experience
Hours for the Welders:
- Monday-Friday 7:30am-5pm
- Must be open to working weekends and OT if needed
Requirements for Welders:
MIG Welding experience
Prior Construction and Power Tool experience preferred
Ability to safely operate machines and saws
Knowledge and expertise with a variety of hand tools
Must have experience using a variety of
machinery
Good math skills and ability to read a ruler
Not afraid of heights, will be going up step ladders and man lifts on a regular basis
Ability to stand, bend, and twist for long hours
Comfortable moving from a kneeling/crawling position to standing on a regular basis
Ability to lift 75lbs repeatedly
Must be able to work at a fast pace and perform repetitive duties
Willingness to clean
Work well as a team and individually
High regard for safety
High School Diploma or GED preferred
Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
