Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled Welder to cut and join metals and other materials at our manufacturing facility. This position requires proficiency in operating potentially dangerous equipment with strict adherence to safety protocols. The ideal candidate will possess a steady hand, strong attention to detail, and comprehensive knowledge of various metals and their properties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine job requirements.
- Take accurate measurements to plan layout and procedures.
- Select appropriate welding equipment or techniques based on project needs.
- Set up components and prepare parts for welding using angle grinders or other tools.
- Align and clamp components using calipers, rulers, and other measuring devices.
- Weld components using manual or semi-automatic equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal, overhead).
- Perform repairs on machinery or other components by welding and gap filling.
- Inspect welded surfaces and structures to identify flaws and ensure quality standards.
- Maintain welding equipment in safe working condition.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but requires the ability to work independently and collaborate with team members to meet production goals.
Minimum Qualifications
- Proven experience as a professional welder (minimum of 5 years in a manufacturing environment).
- Proficient in various welding techniques and equipment (e.g., TIG, MMA).
- Skilled in the use of both electrical and manual tools (e.g., squares, calipers).
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and engineering drawings.
- Strong attention to detail and hand-eye coordination.
- Proficient in English (oral and written communication).
- Completion of a recognized welding apprenticeship program.
Preferred Qualifications
- CWI or CRAWL certification.
- AWS Professional Welding Certification.
- Experienced with both MIG and TIG
Physical Demands
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work in physically demanding environments, including standing for long periods and performing overhead welding tasks.
