What You'll Do
As a Welder, you'll set up and operate welding equipment to join and fabricate metal components to spec, reading blueprints and weld symbols to guide precise, high-quality work. Responsibilities include:
- Perform MIG welding on carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum; robotic and spot welding also included
- Tack-weld and weld components/assemblies using electric, gas, or arc welding equipment
- Heat, form, and dress metal parts using hand tools, torches, or arc welding equipment
- Set amperage, voltage, and other parameters to strike and maintain a clean arc
- Manually guide the electrode/gun along the weld line, judging bead quality by color, sound, and puddle size
- Position, clamp, and fixture workpieces for assembly
- Measure finished parts to verify accuracy
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications to plan layout and welding sequence
- Operate additional machine shop equipment to prep components as needed
- Follow all safety protocols and procedures at all times
What You Bring
- High School diploma or GED
- 6 months–1 year of welding experience, vocational training, or metal fabrication shop experience
- Working knowledge of MIG welding across carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum (automated welding a plus)
- Ability to read and understand weld symbols and blueprints
- Ability to speak and read English
- Own hand tools
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and stand for 10–12 hour shifts
