This is a Welder position in our JASPER Indiana Tool and Die Division. Basic prior welding knowledge would be required. Operations consist of using a spot-welding gun or hand, electric, or gas welding equipment to assemble metal components to effect repairs to various products and machinery. They are responsible for measuring sizes to ensure parts meet specifications that are shown on drawings or instructions. Welders may also need to fill holes or corrects mistakes in product and make bulges thin and curves in metal work pieces.

Needs to be able to use tape measures, squares, bench grinder, disc grinder, variety of hand tools, vertical and horizontal bandsaws. Must be able to identify types and sizes of metal and other material. Must also be able to understand CAD drawings and can sketch a part. Basic math skills (add, subtract, decimals, fractions) are also critical.
Must understand how to use equipment and follow procedures…and can pass the qualification process for SMAW (shielded metal arc welding), GTAW (gas tungsten arc welding), GMAW (gas metal arc welding) as well as brazing and soldering. Additionally, must understand how to safely use a torch to heat and cut.
The ability to lift, bend, push, pull and move materials up to 50lbs.
The ability to stand or walk an entire shift (can be approx… 8-10 hours)
The ability to use handheld tools such as Hammers, Screwdrivers, Wrenches, Squares, Tape Measures, Etc.
