Job Overview:

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Welders are responsible for their own weld which includes but not limited to the quality of their weld.
  • Individuals are required to inspect the pre-existing weld, of the received part, to ensure and uphold the integrity of the part.
  • Individuals are requested to be able to inspect the part prior and post weld to ensure it meets the requirements of the task.
  • Be able to determine the right wire to receiving material with minimal assistance.
  • Be able to read and interpret WPS.
  • The ability to preheat material in accordance with WPS requirement with minimal assistance and supervision.
  • The ability to utilize the Oxi-Fuel heating torch under minimal assistance and supervision.
  • Maintain a clean and organized working area in accordance with safety policy.
  • Strong knowledge of fabrication tools such as grinders, etc.
  • The ability to read blueprints/drawings to determine the task under minimal assistance and supervision.
  • Following job routers and correctly clock their hours properly for the designated task.
  • The ability to set up their machine with minimal assistance per related WPS.
  • Individuals will utilize cranes and hoist when appropriate for the designated task.
  • Individuals will be required to utilize the forklift on designated jobs.
  • The individual should have strong knowledge of welding practices and standards and has the capability to assist more junior-level welders.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.
  • Be safety conscious and report any safety hazards to the HSE representative.
  • Responsible for and the authority to maintain and promote a safe working environment in accordance with the appropriate HSE procedure(s).
  • Participate in actions which promote a safety and quality culture within NOV.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and Quality, Health Safety Environmental polices & procedures.
  • Ensure compliance of the company’s overall objectives.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

•    High school diploma or equivalent required
•    5-7 years of traditional welding experience
•    Vocational education (high school, GED or other appropriate education, commercial or shop training; technical school)
•    Industry related experience is a plus.
•    Job Shop and Welding experience is a plus
•    All welding certifications will be done on site.  To be certified through NOV.
•    Forklift certification is a plus

JOB REQUIREMENTS

•    Required to wear personal protective equipment such as gloves, clothing, glasses, goggles, respirator/face mask, ear plugs/muffs and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
•    Work potentially will be performed in areas where harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing chemicals). Per HSE requirements, you could be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
•    Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
•    Must be able to communicate in English (both written and oral) as it relates to the job.
•    Must be willing and able to work flexible shifts and changing work schedule.
•    The employee must be able to lift, pull, or push up to 50 pounds.
•    While doing set-ups and verifying measurements employee will routinely bend.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES

•    Knowledge of GMAW
•    Knowledge of SMAW
•    Gouging Knowledge
•    The ability to weld Fillet Weld
•    The ability to weld in Flat/Horizontal/Vertical positions.
•    Familiarity with gas shield wire specs.
•    Knowledge of WPS (Weld procedure specification)
•    Knowledge of Oxi-Fuel heating torch
