Job Overview:

Welder – 2nd Shift

Ellsworth, KS

Great Plains Manufacturing is currently seeking an experienced 2nd Shift Welder to join our team at our facility in Ellsworth, KS.

This position works Monday-Thursday from 4:30 p.m. to 3:00 a.m., with overtime on Fridays, as required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Weld metal parts together, using both gas welding or brazing or any combination of arc welding processes utilizing a variety of welding equipment.
  • Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead positions.
  • Operation of various welding robots.
  • Clean, repair and examine welds as needed.
  • Conduct quality checks throughout the shift.
  • Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed safety and protective equipment.
  • Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Working knowledge of MIG welding operations and ability to pass a weld test
  • High standard for quality and detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Understanding of team concepts and willingness to be a strong team player
  • Willingness to work overtime
  • Ability to lift heavy parts throughout the shift
  • Open to Lean Manufacturing and implementation of change
