Job Overview:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Able to understand direction and fulfill a task at the shop or rig location.
  • Ability to travel & work in WTX up to 2 weeks when needed & work in the shop or rig location.
  • Ability to work some weekends.
  • Perform assignments under immediate or moderate supervision
  • Perform arc and oxy-acetylene welding, cutting, and brazing on various ferrous and nonferrous metals, in accordance with established methods and procedures
  • Read and interpret assembly drawings, engineering information sheets, work orders, checklists and test report.
  • Able to participate and identify root cause of assembly and testing failures.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to secure parts in place.
  • Assembles and disassembles National Oilwell Varco proprietary and other proprietary oilfield equipment.
  • Reports any material discrepancies or material defects to area supervisor.
  • Effectively communicate with Supervisor/ Manager to quickly resolve problems related to products and procedures.
  • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to stand, sit, bend, and reach particularly for sustained periods of time
  • Must be able to communicate, converse with, and exchange information by means of the spoken and written word
  • Must be able to lift 25lbs to shoulder height
  • Able to perform light physical effort to lift or move materials up to 40 pounds

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Ability to work in the South Texas & WTX weather environments, Cold, Hot, Rainy, & Windy Conditions. 
  • Machinery operation requires the use of forklift & safety equipment to include but not limited to; eye safety glasses, hearing protectors and work boots
  • Standing 85% of the time
  • Available to work overtime as required.
  • Ability to work at night.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Required

  • Welding experience for 3+ plus years
  • A high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must be able to weld using 7018 STICK electrodes
  • Demonstrable proficiency with assembling, testing and calibrating complex devices in a manufacturing or similar work environment.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of test equipment including but not limited to, bench power supplies, hand-held meters, etc.
  • Relevant experience reading and understanding of drawings and specifications 
  • Experience with all types of hand tools such as: torque wrenches, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, wire strippers, and crimping tools. 
  • Attention to detail with a strong commitment to quality
  • Excellent written and spoken English language skills.
