We are seeking a Welder to join our team at Emerson in Aiken, SC! In this role, you will work with the Fabrication Supervisor and will be responsible for various operations within the Fabrication department. You will be responsible for completing welding tasks safely and efficiently, inspecting parts for quality, maintaining proper documentation, and following established procedures to ensure consistent production.  IN THIS ROLE, YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL:

  • Plan, layout and perform bench and machine operations to construct and repair tools, dies, fixtures, gauges and miscellaneous machine parts.
  • Independently apply skilled workmanship through several machining disciplines
  • Act independently to support safety, production and time sensitive engineering needs.
  • Work from drawings and specifications. 
  • Quality of workmanship as well as quantity of production.
  • Perform close and exacting bench and assembly operations to fit, align, calibrate, time and finish work.
  • Perform semi-skilled workmanship to more than one tool and die discipline.
  • Obey all safety rules and stop work if continuing is unsafe or will create an unsafe condition. Report all safety concerns immediately.
  • Consistently use required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with safety standards.
  • Operate welding equipment using MIG, TIG, Brazing techniques
  • Set up, maintain, and troubleshoot welding equipment 
  • Conduct thorough inspections of welded surfaces and assemblies using visual and dimensional checks to identify defects such as cracks, porosity, warping, or incomplete penetration; verify conformance with blueprints, tolerances, and quality standards, and document or report any nonconformities. 
  • Perform production welding, repairs, modifications, and custom fabrication
  • Apply mathematical calculations to ensure accuracy and adherence to design specifications
  • Prepare, clean, and condition parts for brazing operations using acid tanks and other cleaning methods; ensure proper handling, maintenance, and disposal procedures are followed
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the welding booth and brazing area 
  • Monitor and maintain inventory of welding and brazing materials
  • Basic design of fixtures and/or tooling in order to complete assignments
  • Sharpen dovetail form and shave tools, standard and various angled drill, flat-bottom drills and threading taps.

FOR THIS ROLE, YOU WILL NEED: 

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of 2 years of related welding experience 
  • Experienced with MIG, TIG, and brazing processes
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality control and precision 
  • Basic to advanced math skills relevant to fabrication, measurements, and layout work 
  • Knowledge of welding safety standards, procedures, and proper use of PPE 
  • Experience setting up, adjusting, and maintaining welding equipment 
  • Familiarity with metal properties, preparation techniques, and fabrication methods 
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a production environment 
  • Good time management skills with the ability to meet production deadlines 
  • Must be a team player.
  • Ability to read and understand basic engineering drawings and specifications
  • Ability to use inspection tools such as scales, calipers, and micrometers
  • Willingness to complete required ISO training
  • Ability to work flexible hours and overtime as production needs require
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States (sponsorship will not be provided)

 

  PHYSICAL DEMAND:

  • While performing duties you may be required to stand, walk, stoop, bend, twist and/or lift up to 40 pounds throughout an entire shift. May be required to work more than 8 hours in a day or 40 hours in a week based on production needs.
  • Exposed to manufacturing plant conditions and elements including but not limited to noise, dust, dirt, oil, and grease.
  • PPE's will be required including safety glasses, ear plugs and/or safety shoes.
  • May be required to work at different work stations as determined by business needs.
