Job Overview:

Weld Supervisor – 1st Shift – Tipton, KS

 

Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking an experienced leader to join our team as a 1st Shift Weld Supervisor at our Tipton, KS facility.

 

This position works Monday through Thursday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with overtime on Fridays, as required. 

 

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Analyze work orders and blueprints to determine need for supplies and sequence of operations required.
  • Plan production operations, establishing priorities and sequences for welding and material handling. 
  • Interpret specifications and job orders to workers, and assign duties.
  • Set up and program welding equipment.
  • Inspect work to maintain specified standards and quality.
  • Set up machines or make trial welds to make test runs and experimental products. 
  • Prepare operational schedules and welding activities to ensure production and quality of products meets specifications. 
  • Interpret company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations.
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Complete measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
  • Train new employees and maintain an appropriate labor-management relationship with subordinates.
  • Perform activities of workers supervised.
  • Follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wears prescribed safety and protective equipment.
  • Other duties may be assigned that require other qualifications, physical demands, and/or work environment.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 2 years of experience welding in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to perform arc welding by hand
  • Management or supervisory experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of production processes and methods 
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Capability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Basic knowledge of Word Processing, Internet, Email, Spreadsheets, and Software Concepts
