Job Overview:

 

Are you a self-motivated, team player looking for a position that allows you to continue to learn and grow? SMC Metal is looking for a full-time Fabrication Technician with an emphasis in running an EMLK to join our team. No experience is necessary as we offer paid on-the-job training with our skill-based pay system. This means that you will receive additional compensation for every skill that you complete. 

Starting pay is $17.85 per hour. Additional pay based on experience.

The hours are Friday - Sunday from 6:00am-6:00pm and include a $1.00 per hour shift differential.  Work 36 hours but get paid for 40!

Position Description:

The EMLK Operator is responsible for setting up and operating the machine to perform punching/laser operations for a variety of customer’s needs. Operators are expected to manufacture quality parts and have the knowledge to check their work.

Qualifications:  

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each skill satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.  

  1. High School Diploma.
  2. 1 – 5 years of related turret/EMLK or machine experience.
  3. Analytical and mathematical skills to interpret layouts and blueprints.
  4. Ability to set-up machine and troubleshoot problems as they occur.
    5. Physical requirements – person must stand for the entire shift, lift up to 50 pounds repetitively throughout the shift, and have good balance along with hand-eye-foot coordination.
    6. Must have their own tools (caliper, square, protractor, etc.) SMC offers a discounted price if purchased through us as well as payroll deduction to pay for the tools.
    7. Must be self-motivated, team player and have good communication skills.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

Duties may be modified or additional duties assigned.  

  1. Start up, set-up and operate the machines to manufacture product using blueprints.
  2. Perform tasks such as selecting operating programs from database and sending the program to the machine.
  3. Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with SMC’s policies and procedures.
  4. Set-up and troubleshoot machine as problems arise.
  5. Operate the Wilson tool sharpener and sheet lifting crane.
  6. Ensure quality parts and separate slug materials.
  7. Operator is responsible for daily, weekly, and monthly preventative maintenance. 
  8. Other duties as assigned.
