Job Overview:

Position Overview

CARR Machine & Tool Inc. is seeking an experienced Weekend CNC Specialist to keep our production floor running smoothly on Saturdays and Sundays. This is a part-time, independent role for a seasoned operator who can be trusted to run the shop on their own — loading and unloading parts, inspecting work, and making documented adjustments to keep machines producing throughout the weekend. The goal of this role is continuity: ensuring the shop is in a strong position to start Monday morning rather than recovering from a lost weekend.

Schedule & Compensation

  • **Days: **Saturday and Sunday
  • **Hours: **4 to 8 hours per shift (flexible)
  • **Pay Range: **$45.00 – $50.00 per hour, based on experience
  • **Employment Type: **Part-time
  • **Supervision: **Independent – no on-site supervisor during weekend shifts

Key Responsibilities

  • Load and unload parts on production CNC mills
  • Operate and monitor CNC mills to maintain steady throughput throughout the shift
  • Inspect parts as they come off the machines to confirm dimensions are within tolerance and the machines are producing passing parts
  • Maintain coolant levels in each machine and top off as needed
  • Empty chip drums and keep work areas clean and organized
  • Make limited machine adjustments based on documented procedures
  • Identify when an issue is outside the scope of documented adjustments and stop production safely
  • Document any issues, adjustments, or production status so the weekday team can pick up seamlessly on Monday

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience operating CNC mills
  • Demonstrated ability to work confidently with minimal or no supervision
  • Comfortable making small machine adjustments within documented parameters to keep production moving
  • Strong inspection skills – able to read prints and verify part dimensions
  • Able to work effectively alone or alongside one other operator
  • Reliable, self-motivated, and committed to keeping the shop running smoothly through the weekend
  • Must qualify as a “U.S. Person” under ITAR (22 CFR 120.62). This typically includes U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, and certain protected individuals.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience operating a CMM
  • Experience working within an ERP system

Who This Role Is For

This position is well-suited for a seasoned machinist – including semi-retired professionals or anyone with deep shop-floor experience – who wants flexible weekend hours and extra income without the demands of a full-time role. If you take pride in your work, can be trusted to run the floor on your own, and prefer to solve problems rather than escalate every issue, we want to hear from you.

You should be proficient in:

  • GD&T
  • CNC Tooling
  • G-Code
  • M-Code
  • CNC Machine Setup & Changeover
  • Precision Measurement & Hand Metrology
  • Machine Setups for Production Runs

  • CNC Mill (3-4 axis VMC) (Fanuc, Doosan, Hwachon, Kitamura, Mazak, Makino, Brother, Haas, Hurco, Okuma, Dmg Mori Seiki)
  • CNC Mill (5+ axis VMC) (Fanuc, Matsuura, Mitsubishi, Mikron, Dmg Mori Seiki, Mazak, Haas, Hwachon, Okuma, Kitamura)
