Job Overview:

Are you a creative Web Designer passionate about crafting responsive, SEO-friendly websites that drive e-commerce growth? Join Outdoor Cap’s dynamic Marketing team and put your expertise in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript to work across multiple B2C and B2B brands in the outdoor and headwear industry. You’ll collaborate with marketing leads, site merchandisers, creative, and marketing ops teams to build engaging online experiences on platforms like Shopify, Magento/Adobe Commerce, WordPress, and beyond. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Build, enhance, and maintain websites using CMS tools (WordPress, Drupal, Shopify, Magento).
  • Implement responsive design principles for optimal performance on desktop, tablet, and mobile.
  • Ensure cross-browser compatibility and web accessibility (WCAG) standards.
  • Partner with other designers to translate wireframes and mockups into pixel-perfect, interactive pages.
  • Execute A/B tests and user-behavior analysis to refine layouts, navigation, and calls-to-action.
  • Optimize site speed, image assets, and code structure for fast load times.
  • Apply on-page SEO best practices (meta tags, schema markup, semantic HTML) to boost search visibility.
  • Build, maintain, and monitor analytics (Google Analytics, Search Console) and implement data-driven improvements.
  • Support tag implementation, campaign attribution models, and data integrity across platforms (GA4, GTM, Amazon Brand Analytics, Meta Ads, etc.).
  • Manage digital assets, update product catalogs, and publish marketing content through CMS.
  • Troubleshoot bugs, support site migrations, and work with technologists and agencies to deploy code and feature updates
  • Work with Marketing, Sales, and IT to align website initiatives with brand guidelines and business objectives.
  • Provide documentation, training, and technical support for internal stakeholders.


AI Enablement & Innovation 

  • Evaluate and pilot AI-powered tools for content generation, predictive analytics, campaign optimization, and customer insights.
  • Review and leverage AI to work smarter, faster, and more efficient.


Competencies 

  • Expert in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and familiarity with frameworks (jQuery, React/Vue a plus).
  • Hands-on experience with CMS platforms: Shopify, Magento/Adobe Commerce, WordPress, etc.
  • Knowledge of REST APIs, Liquid templating (Shopify), and PHP or similar backend languages.
  • Strong eye for typography, color theory, and layout hierarchy.
  • Understanding of responsive and mobile-first design principles.
  • SEO fundamentals, Google Analytics, A/B testing tools (Optimizely, Google Optimize).
  • Familiarity with performance-testing tools (Lighthouse, GTmetrix).
  • Familiarity with AI tools for marketing (ChatGPT, Jasper, Midjourney, Canva AI, etc.)
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work independently, and think critically


Education and Qualifications 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Web Design, Computer Science, Digital Media, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
  • 3+ years of professional web-design/development experience, ideally in an e-commerce or B2C environment.
  • Minimum 2 years building and maintaining sites on CMS platforms—WordPress, Shopify, Magento/Adobe Commerce, or similar.
  • Proven track record using HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+) to deliver responsive, cross-browser-compatible websites.
  • Hands-on experience with version control (Git) and branching/deployment workflows.
  • Demonstrated success optimizing page speed, accessibility (WCAG), and on-page SEO.
  • Experience integrating third-party tools and APIs (e.g., payment gateways, headless CMS, analytics).
  • Comfortable collaborating in agile/scrum environments and communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Bonus: 1+ year working with Liquid (Shopify), PHP (Magento), or JavaScript frameworks (React, Vue).


Physical/Mental Requirements 

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (seated) 80% of the day and occasionally reach, bend, and move inside the office to access files and product.
  • Required to have close visual acuity to perform computer tasks and operate other office machinery.
  • The person in this position frequently communicates with internal and external customers and must be able to exchange accurate information in a clear manner.  
  • Ability to move 10-20 lbs occasionally throughout day.
  • Ability to hear a phone ring.
  • Must be able to visually differentiate colors.
