Reports to: Senior Parts Foreman

Job Overview: This position serves as a critical support role for the fabrication shop. The employee will move and stage steel components, build and deliver kits, maintain organized work areas, replenish supplies, assist with loading and unloading, and anticipate the needs of fabrication personnel.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Safely move structural steel, plates, miscellaneous metals, parts, and fabricated components throughout the facility
• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, carts and other material handling equipment.
• Verify material identification, piece marks, quantities, and locations before moving material
• Build complete kits based on drawings, piece marks, bills of material, cut lists, and production requirements
• Identify missing, damaged, or incorrect components before the kit reaches the fabricator.
• Communicate all shortages and discrepancies to your supervisor
• Stage materials at the appropriate workstation as it is needed
• Maintain accurate and organized material storage areas
• Keep aisles, access points, staging areas, and work areas clear
• Maintain a sense of urgency while working safely and accurately

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities: 

• Previous experience in a manufacturing, fabrication, construction, warehouse, or material-handling environment preferred.
• Ability to read and understand blueprints, gathers, piece marks, labels, and material identification
• Ability to accurately count, measure, and identify material and components
• Ability to safely operate or learn to operate forklifts and overhead cranes.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced industrial environment
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Good communication skills
• Ability to prioritize multiple requests
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Willingness to learn structural steel fabrication processes and shop terminology
• Dependable attendance and punctuality 
• Ability to work as part of a team
• Willingness to jump in and help whenever needed to support production

Job Requirements:

• Education: High School Diploma
• Experience: 3+ years experience in a relevant area in a manufacturing, fabrication, construction, warehouse, or material-handling environment preferred.
• Physical: Applicants must be able to walk and stand on feet for extended period of time, lift, push and pull up to 75 lbs, crawl on hands and knees, climb a ladder and be able to work long hours. This position works indoors and outdoors year-round and therefore subject to all weather conditions sometimes to include extreme cold and heat.
