About the Company

Our client is a leading metal recycling company dedicated to processing and reclaiming valuable materials through safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operations. They are seeking a dependable Wastewater Operator to join their team on the overnight shift.

Position Summary

The Wastewater Operator is responsible for operating and monitoring equipment used to wash recycled metal materials while ensuring the wastewater treatment process is functioning efficiently. This role involves monitoring equipment performance, performing routine water quality testing throughout the shift, handling incoming materials, and maintaining accurate documentation. The ideal candidate is safety-focused, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment.

Schedule

Training (First 2 Weeks):

  • Day Shift

Night Shift:

  • Thursday: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM
  • Friday: 10:30 PM – 11:00 AM
  • Saturday: 10:30 PM – 11:00 AM
  • Sunday: 10:30 PM – 7:00 AM

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor wastewater treatment and metal washing equipment to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform routine water quality testing throughout the shift and document results.
  • Report to the Shipping & Receiving department to receive daily assignments.
  • Safely operate a forklift to unload incoming material shipments.
  • Sort recycled metals by size, shape, alloy, and material type according to customer specifications.
  • Weigh and document material bins.
  • Inspect equipment and notify supervisors of any malfunctions or operational concerns.
  • Maintain cleanliness of machinery, equipment, and assigned work areas.
  • Label, identify, and prepare containers used for storing processed materials.
  • Ensure packaging and containers are organized and ready for the next stage of production.
  • Complete all required paperwork accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Follow all company quality assurance procedures and safety protocols.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Assist with training and supporting other employees as directed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous manufacturing, production, warehouse, wastewater treatment, or machine operating experience preferred.
  • Forklift experience is preferred (or willingness to become certified).
  • Ability to work overnight and weekend shifts.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Comfortable working around industrial equipment and machinery.
  • Ability to accurately complete paperwork and maintain production records.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality standards.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequently lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift.
  • Comfortable working in an industrial manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
