This position is for the Opelousas location - 2624 Powers Street, Opelousas, LA 70570

I. Job Description:

Compiles and maintains raw material and finished goods inventory. Expedites movement of material and parts between production areas according to predetermined production schedules and order priorities: Reads production schedules and inventory reports to determine type and quantity of materials required, availability of stock, and order priority. Confers with department supervisor to determine overdue material and parts and to inform supervisors of material status. Locates and distributes materials to specified production areas, manually or using handcart, hand truck, or forklift. Records inventory of quantity and type of materials and parts received, stocked, and distributed manually. Examines material received, verify part numbers, and check discrepancies, such as damaged or unmarked parts. May compare production specifications to material used to verify appropriate assignment.

II. Required Skills:

Safe operation of Forklift to expedite transfer of materials on facility grounds
Loads, unloads, and moves materials within or near plant, yard, or work site
Reads work order and follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves
Loads materials into vehicles and installs strapping, bracing, or padding to prevent shifting or damage in transit
Conveys materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck or other devices
Ability to conduct accurate monthly inventory
Counts number of units of materials moved or handled
Attaches identifying tags or labels to materials or marks information on containers
Stacks or assembles materials into bundles and bands bundles together, using banding machine and clincher
Handles inventory transfers between locations as required

III. Essential Functions/Duties:

Expedite materials
Label Inventory
Receive and inspect and ship materials
Deliver material, pallets and boxes to workstations as needed
Accurate reporting
Break down gaylords and palletize
Perform rework when needed
Wort at production table when needed
Inspect forklift
Wrap and label boxes and pallets

IV. Qualifications:

Able to show up for work on time – this position is Monday – Friday with one hour lunch
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and random drug testing
Must sign a confidentiality/non-compete agreement
Capable of standing/walking for entire shift and must have visual and auditory capability in an industrial setting
US Citizenship is required, and must be English fluent in reading and writing
Physically able to bend, squat, twist, climb, reach and lift 50 pounds without assistance
Must have a valid driver’s license; limited travel may be required
High school diploma or equivalent required
Able to operate a forklift and pallet jack
3+ years recent experience with inventory in a related field
Moderate computer skills using MS Excel/Word/Outlook
