Job Summary:   

Prairie Farms Dairy, Battle Creek operates as a dairy manufacturing plant and distribution center that covers the whole state of MI and some of the surrounding states. We make dairy products that are then distributed to retail outlets, warehouses, hospitals, correctional facilities, retirement homes, food service warehouses, schools and colleges throughout Michigan. 

Prairie Farms is looking for an experienced Cooler Supervisor. The perfect candidate is a good communicator, organized and leads by example. The warehouse supervisor is responsible for supervising and coordinating activities of employees that involve receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing and shipping materials, supplies, tools, equipment and parts, in a small to mid-size warehouse and yard. 

This position is a 6:30pm - 6:30am Thursday - Saturday working every other Sunday. Supervisor role, at nights, leading a team of about 12 associates and two Team Leads.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of the warehouse; including but not limited to:
    • Hold team accountable to company policies: Ex. Attendance and Safety-First mentality
    • Ensure all SKU’s are tracked accurately on all orders
    • Ensure all monthly safety training is completed 
  • Ensure proper execution and implementation of all policies, procedures with regard to picking, packing, shipping, receiving and inventory management  
  • Train and evaluate warehouse staff on effective inventory techniques and daily tasks
  • Assists and maintain appropriate inventory levels and product loss control
  • Schedule and manage warehouse team members within labor and budget while meeting the demands of the facility
  • Ensure compliance with safety codes, policies, and procedures of the Company and standards established by Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) and Food and Drug Administration (FDA)
  • Ensure all equipment, including but not limited to forklifts, pallet jacks, and fleet trucks, is properly maintained and inspection practices are followed
  • Ability to work in cold (non-weather) temperatures
  • Follows and enforces all company policies and procedures regarding GMPs, SOPs and Quality standards
  • Maintains an air of professionalism and communicates effectively
  • Demonstrates problem solving and decision-making ability
  • Ability to prioritize and follow up on previous activities 

Requirements

  • DSD (Direct Store Delivery) experience is required
  • Perishable Food experience is required
  • High school diploma or general equivalency diploma preferred (GED)
  • 3 years of demonstrated leadership experience in warehouse/distribution center operations
  • 2 years of experience with Microsoft Excel
  • 2 years analyzing data associated with processes, identifying opportunities, and providing recommendations for improvement
  • 2 years of experience with Occupational Safety Regulations
  • Computer literacy 
  • Ability to operate a forklift preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Dairy and DSD Warehouse experience is a plus
  • Ability to operate a forklift preferred
