Position Summary:
The 2nd Shift Warehouse Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily activities within the warehouse during the second shift, ensuring a safe, efficient, and productive working environment. This role includes managing shipping and receiving operations, maintaining inventory, coordinating with external storage facilities, and providing leadership and training to the warehouse team.
Major Responsibilities:
Safety and Compliance:
- Observe and promote all safety and company policies to ensure a secure working environment.
- Conduct monthly safety meetings and regular STOP audits.
Warehouse Management:
- Direct day-to-day activities including shipping, receiving, sanitation, maintenance, and inventory control during the second shift.
- Oversee and maintain truck delivery and arrival times to ensure timely shipments and deliveries.
- Coordinate shipments to and from outside warehouse storage facilities.
- Manage all inbound shipments, including scheduling for incoming freights such as resin, concentrates, outside purchases, and plant transfers.
- Maintain adequate supplies and inventory for the warehouse.
- Oversee year-end fiscal inventory procedures.
Employee Supervision:
- Provide leadership, guidance, development, and training to warehouse staff on the second shift.
- Manage employee hours, including tracking worked hours and PTO.
- Coordinate forklift and aerial training classes with Production Management, issuing licenses upon course completion.
Budget and Maintenance:
- Assist in generating budgets for forklift maintenance, freight, and outside storage fees.
- Schedule and maintain records of preventative maintenance on lift trucks.
- Conduct daily security checks of the warehouse department.
Physical Requirements:
- Work in a manufacturing environment, utilizing equipment such as computers, printers, copiers, and telephones.
- Requires walking (40%), standing (50%), and sitting (10%), with full range of body motion including twisting, bending, squatting, and reaching at/above/below shoulders.
- Visual requirements include near/far acuity, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
- Potential travel by plane and auto for training and exposure to new processes and equipment as needed.
Qualifications:
- Ability to communicate effectively and possess strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise others.
- Proficient in understanding and applying company policies and procedures, including safety protocols.
- Initiative-driven with a focus on ensuring efficient operation of shipping, warehouse, and receiving departments.
- Basic understanding of word processing and spreadsheet applications, preferably Microsoft Office (Word/Excel).
Education and Experience:
- High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 5 years of experience in distribution or manufacturing operations and 2 years of supervisory experience preferred. Comparable levels of education and/or experience will be considered.
Shift Information:
- This position is for the 2nd shift. Candidates must be available to work during evening and night hours as specified by the company.
- This position will be working Monday - Friday.
