Warehouse Picker
Abilene West, Abilene, KS
Great Plains Manufacturing is seeking a Warehouse Picker to join our team in Abilene, KS. The Warehouse Picker receives, stores, distributes and routes parts and products throughout the manufacturing facility.
This role provides technical leadership to the Manufacturing Engineering teams at our facilities at Abilene East, Abilene West and Kipp.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Sort and place materials or items on racks, shelves, or in bins according to predetermined sequences.
- Retrieve parts and materials from storage locations based on production needs.
- Pick orders accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain accurate inventory records by tracking parts picked to avoid inventory discrepancies.
- Assist in regular inventory counts and audits to ensure stock accuracy.
- Inspect parts for damage before delivery and report any defective items to the supervisor.
- Distribute picked items to the production areas and ensure they are protected from damage.
- Operate material handling equipment such as pallet jack, AGV or hand truck to move parts safely.
- Ensure material handling equipment is checked prior to use. Report any malfunctions to the supervisor.
- Communicate effectively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate order fulfillment.
- Keep work areas clean and organized to promote safety, 5S, and efficiency.
- Ensure storage areas are properly labeled and organized for easy access to parts.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- Ability to give strong attention to detail and stay on-task in a fast-paced environment
- Have a good understanding of team concepts and be a strong team player
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools; ability to read blueprints and tape measure
- Capable of embracing a culture of Lean Manufacturing and implementation of change
- Basic computer skills helpful
- Ability to follow all Great Plains and OSHA safety regulations and wear prescribed PPE as required
