Job Overview:


We are seeking an experienced, motivated, and hard-working Material Handler to join our growing team of 3rd shift production associates at Blum USA. This is a great opportunity to connect with an established international company. 

 

As a Logistics Material Handler, you will be responsible for all work assignments within the Logistics Department. These include dock handler, pick station operator, material handler, over wrap operator, order checker, conditioning chamber, consolidation & small quantity warehouse.


Reporting Relationships

  • Reports to: Warehouse Group Leader, Team Leader, and/or Warehouse Manager 
  • Collaborates with: Warehouse personnel, Disposition Planners, Transportation representatives, and Production personnel.


Responsibilities & Duties

Job involves rotation through all work assignments within the Logistics Department including dock handler, pick station operation, material handler, over wrap operator, consolidation, order checker, small quantity warehouse operation, imported and domestic steel receiving, and conditioning chamber. Responsibilities will vary according to job assignment.


Education

High School Diploma or GED preferred

  • Sits & stands constantly, 6-8 hours
  • Walks frequently, 4-6 hours
  • Twists, turns, stoops, bends, squats & kneels frequently, 4-6 hours
  • Crawls occasionally, 1-3 hours
  • Reaches frequently, 4-6 hours
  • Performs overhead work occasionally, 1-3 hours
  • Drives forklift constantly, 6-8 hours
  • Climbing occasionally, 1-3 hours
  • Lifts/Carries 11-25 lbs up to a distance of 20 feet, over 40 times per shift
  • Lifts/Carries 26-50 lbs up to a distance of 5 feet, over 40 times per shift
  • Lifts/Carries up to 50 lbs up to a distance of 30 feet, under 15 times per shift
  • Pushes/Pulls 11-25 lbs up to a distance of 20 feet, over 40 times per shift
  • Pushes/Pulls 26-50 lbs up to a distance of 50 feet, over 40 times per shift
  • Pushes/Pulls up to 50 lbs up to a distance of 5 feet, under 15 times per shift
  • Use both hands to move objects for 6-8 hours per day
  • Use a simple grasp to pick up objects with both hands, 6-8 hours per day
  • Use both hands to finely manipulate objects for 1-3 hours per day
  • Must be able to operate computer, scanner, wrapping machine and office equipment with one or both hands
  • Must be able to operate various sit-down and walk behind type powered industrial forklifts with a maximum capacity weight of 12,000lbs.
  • Must be able to read/interpret data presented in hardcopy or on computer display

Tasks

  • Driving of yard trucks to move/re-position tractor trailer
  • Interpret a variety of data presented in hardcopy or on a computer display
  • Loads/unloads pallets from/to trailers using forklift
  • Unload steel coils from trailers using forklift
  • Breaks down material received on pallets for processing & redistribution
  • Picks orders using a computer & stages those orders for shipment
  • Process UPS Orders
  • Wraps & labels pallets
  • Consolidates new orders on pallets to conserve space on trailers
  • Inspects staged orders for accuracy
  • Recycles cardboard & plastic
  • Maintains housekeeping standards
  • Processes orders through the Conditioning Chamber
  • Processes material through the small quantity warehouse
  • Transports material from warehouse to production & from production back to the warehouse using a forklift
  • Perform forklift battery maintenance (watering, charging, inspecting & minor repair)
  • Retrieve loose boxes from conveyer (requires fall protection)
