Position Summary

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all warehouse and material handling operations within a busy machine shop environment. This role ensures the safe and efficient receipt, storage, movement, and distribution of steel and other raw materials while maintaining accurate inventory levels and providing excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will have forklift experience, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work hands-on in a manufacturing setting.

Key Responsibilities

Material Handling & Inventory Management

• Safely unload incoming steel, materials, and supplies from delivery trucks.

• Load finished products and customer orders onto trucks for shipment.

• Operate forklifts and material handling equipment safely and efficiently.

• Organize, stock, and maintain steel inventory in designated locations.

• Conduct routine inventory counts and maintain accurate inventory records.

• Ensure warehouse areas remain clean, organized, and safe.

Production Support

• Read and interpret tape measure measurements accurately.

• Pull materials and prepare stock for machine shop production.

• Cut steel and other materials using a band saw according to specifications.

• Operate an ironworker machine to process materials as needed.

• Ensure materials are properly identified, labeled, and staged for production.

Customer Service

• Assist walk-in customers with material selection and order fulfillment.

• Answer customer questions and provide a professional, positive experience.

• Coordinate customer pickups and ensure orders are prepared accurately.

• Build and maintain positive relationships with customers, vendors, and delivery drivers.

Warehouse Leadership

• Monitor material flow to ensure efficient operations.

• Coordinate incoming and outgoing shipments.

• Enforce safety procedures and company policies.

• Report inventory shortages, equipment issues, and operational concerns to management.

• Assist with process improvements to increase efficiency and organization.

Qualifications

• Previous warehouse, shipping/receiving, or material handling experience required.

• Forklift certification or ability to become certified.

• Experience working with steel, metals, or machine shop materials preferred.

• Ability to accurately read a tape measure.

• Experience operating band saws, ironworkers, or similar fabrication equipment preferred.

• Strong organizational and inventory management skills.

• Excellent customer service and communication abilities.

• Basic computer skills for inventory tracking and documentation.

• Ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 pounds or more.

• Stand, walk, bend, climb, and reach throughout the workday.

• Work in a warehouse and manufacturing environment.

• Safely operate forklifts and other material handling equipment.
