Job Overview:

SUMMARY OF DUTIES: Responsible for supervising staff for the accurate picking/processing and handling of outbound customer orders for the assigned area(s); responsible for a unit with a workload that consist of receiving, stamping, cutting, building displays, pulling and stamping cigarettes in “Cig Area,” picking, toting, strapping, palletizing, verifying totes and auditing.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Additional duties, which are necessary to carry out the functions of an Area Supervisor, may be assigned and are incorporated by reference into this job description.

 
  • Responsible for daily supervision of subordinates, including scheduling, hiring, firing, disciplinary action and training as necessary.
  • Responsible for managing personnel to ensure all duties and responsibilities are handled daily and in the event of absences.
  • Responsible for determining work procedures, prepares work schedules, and expedites work flow.
  • Responsible for all order processing including, but limited to, picking, processing guidelines specific to Areas, securing/sealing, and proper case/carton counts shipped.
  • Responsible for maintaining accurate record keeping of all orders shipped and Line Summaries Verified and initialed by Area Supervisor and for each Area assigned by Production Supervisor.
  • Maintains good housekeeping of stamp machines, conveyors and work area as applies.
  • Issues written or oral instructions to subordinates.
  • Supervises and/or assists, as needed, when short staffed or heavy workload requires additional manpower; in addition, assists other Areas when assigned.
  • Areas are completed till ALL Areas are done.


 SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Participates in the hiring and firing process; disciplines and commends employees accordingly; handles employee complaints; evaluates employee job performance; directs the employee performance planning process and sets job expectations in order to establish obtainable goals.


Directly supervises 10 (+/–) nonexempt employees

 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The physical demands of this job include light physical activity performing light strenuous activities of an administrative, productive and/or technical nature that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job as needed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands or arms. The employee is occasionally required to talk or hear. The employee must be able to perform the physical duties of a cigarette of other stamper as the employee may be required to assist when needed.   The employee must be able to regularly lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include color vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job in a warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly work near moving mechanical parts and in outdoor weather conditions. The employee must occasionally work in wet humid conditions and with the risk of electrical shock. The noise level of the work environment is usually loud.
