This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Facilities, and Security. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

As a Vice President of Business Operations and Program Management at Blue Origin, you will lead the Operations Organization to play a pivotal role in shaping the future direction and success of our Operations team! This executive-level position will lead a team responsible for developing, implementing, and optimizing critical initiatives to drive operational efficiency, effectiveness, and overall business performance. This role will also have responsibility developing Lean strategies, development programs and structure to streamline processes, eliminate waste, and enhance overall operational performance.

This position requires effective communication, high judgement, and leadership of multi-functional initiatives across multiple business units and product lines. The ability to design, develop and deploy complex strategies and plans and the ability to communicate those at an executive level is a must. This leader will have responsibility across the Operations Organization.

Key responsibilities for this position:

  • Strategic direction and Development – Lead the development and refinement of the Operations Strategy aligned with overall goals and objectives.
  • Operational Excellence – Drive initiatives to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance productivity while maintain quality standards.
  • Guide Engineering and Technology, Industrial Engineering, and Program Agnostic.
  • Defining and implementing a comprehensive Lean Manufacturing strategy aligned with Operations objectives.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, fostering Lean thinking at all levels of the Operations Organization.
  • Process Optimization – Applying Lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen, JIT to identify, analyze and eliminate waste in production processes, ensuring maximum efficiency and resource utilization.
  • Benchmark Statistics and Reporting - Establish Key Performance Indicators to measure the effectiveness of Lean initiatives and Operations execution. Provide regular updates on progress towards production system goals and targets.
  • Multi-functional Collaboration – Work closely across Operations Organizations to integrate Lean principles into their operations, collaborate to ensure all principles enable organizational goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Significant expertise in Production System Design and Configuration.
  • Extensive experience in Engineering and Technology, Industrial Engineering, Program Agnostic.
  • Track record in Lean Manufacturing and application of tools in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Strategic Development, particularly in Balanced Scorecard and Hoshin Kanri Planning.
  • Proven leadership experience in leading multi-functional initiatives in manufacturing and business unit environments.
  • Deep understanding of complex technical manufacturing processes and production system design and configuration.
  • A continuous improvement demeanor including Root Cause Analysis and Problem-solving in a complex manufacturing environment.
  • Proven track record of leading multi-functional teams at a senior leadership level, with over 15+ years of experience in operations/production in Aerospace or similar Manufacturing.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Application and Experience of Lean processes and tools in both the design of new and transformation of existing production systems.
  • Proven track record of Strategic Planning, preferably Hoshin Kanri/Balanced Scorecard, connecting every level of an operations organization to company goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading development at all levels of the organization in Lean Methodologies and Production System Configuration.
  • Proven track record in Root Cause Analysis, applying the 5-step problem-solving model to alleviate bottleneck issues in a factory environment.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to our inclusive culture.
