Assemblers are responsible for assembling various parts and components using hand and power tools, electrical assembly, and installation in addition to inspecting, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems on the fire apparatuses. Assemblers should be able to read blueprints and obtain the necessary materials for the assembly processes, knowledge of schematics, prints, and heavy duty automotive electrical systems. All Assemblers will be required to travel some of the time to other locations. All travel will be paid and will not require use of personal vehicles.
- Assemble mechanical, trim, and finishing parts/components.
- Finish surfaces and components (including sanding, deburring, DA, and grinding)
- Assemble, test, and repair major vehicle parts/components of vehicle cabins.
- Assemble and connect simple electrical components as instructed.
- Build wiring harnesses and junction boxes.
- Install and interconnect electrical devices.
- Interpret drawings.
- Program, set up, test, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair simple electrical components and systems.
- Modify sheet metal to allow for additional component installation.
- Inspect mechanical assemblies to verify the fitting of electrical assemblies.
